What's happening at Northkirk?
Now that you are Good Searching, you can Good Shop too. Click on the Good Shop button and you will be directed to an online shopping area. All the retailers listed will give our church a donation when you purchase through the Good Search system. Some give a flat donation and some give a percentage. They are all clearly listed. This is a great way to earn money for the church just by shopping and spending the money you already planned on spending!
The donation takes a while to show up in our account so don't worry if you don't see your shopping spree in our amount raised section right away.
Sunday Worship Service time:
9:30am Traditional/Contemporary Blend with piano, organ and Praise Band
Sunday March 2:
The Rev. Martin Smith, candidate for the pastoral position at this church, will preach. His text will be from John 1:43-51. A congregational meeting will follow worship to vote on calling him to serve here as installed pastor of Northkirk.
Ash Wednesday, March 5, 7:30 PM
We will begin the season of Lent with the imposition of ashes (for those who desire it), and with the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Our theme is temptation, from Matthew 4:1-11.
For the next few weeks, we will be reflecting on the faith-fulness of Jesus’ disciples described in the Gospel of John. They are our models and can guide us on how to be Christ’s Church.
Sunday, March 9
“Faithful Disciples: A Woman and a Well”
An unnamed woman, of a different faith, and an outcast, becomes the first evangelist for Jesus, converting an entire village. What can we learn from her story, found in John 4:7-42?
Sunday, March 16
“Faithful Disciples: A Man with Questions”
We all remember that Nicodemus came to Jesus by night, with his many questions. Are we not more like him than we want to admit? We will explore John 3:1-17.
Sunday, March 23
“Faithful Disciples: Determination and Doubt”
We remember Thomas the Twin’s doubt upon learning that Jesus has been raised from the dead. But we forget the story of his faithfulness. What do these two aspects of Thomas teach us? We will be in sections from John 11 and John 20.
Sunday, March 30
“Faithful Disciples: A Soaring Church”
Today we say “au revoir” (literally “until we see each other again”) as opposed to “adieu” (literally, “Go with God” with expectations that we won’t meet again.) We will celebrate the way God lifts us up on eagle’s wings and flies us onward
